Death, for each of us, is as certain as the sunrise. So why are so many fearful of it? Why are so many surprised when it comes? Perhaps we are most fearful that we are not truly living.

I am not afraid of death, death is ‘nothingness, ‘not existing’ just like before we were born. I am afraid of dying, particularly slowly or painfully or knowingly.

The fear of death enables our ability to live as long as possible and reproduce. It’s like why we feel pain. Pain enables us to recognize there are some things that can damage our bodies and we need to stay clear. Love is for the process of bringing people together. This enables more people to come into being. Being aware of these things is not important for life itself to reproduce. And that is ultimately why we’re here – for life to perpetuate itself.
