The best thing to know about an opinion is when to keep it to yourself. There are some more colorful ones about opinions left by my late father that are not suitable for a family blog. Like the bird!
At Thanksgiving dinner, my father-in-law started to talk disparagingly about the former Playmate who accused Al Franken of sexual harassment. I knew expressing my opinion at that time would not only be ineffective, but disruptive to our dinner. I allowed him to vent while his 24-year-old daughter and my 14-year-old daughter made faces. I winked at them to let them know I was in disagreement, but would not allow this to ruin our evening.
