The sun started to go down and they headed home.

“Want to work on the rainforest project tomorrow after school?” Lily asked.

“Yes! That’ll be fun!”

After eating dinner, Kevin worked on his homework. He didn’t even think of his channel, subscriptions, likes, or dislikes.

Focusing on his math, he understood it and completed all of his homework. Fatigued, he fell into an easy, deep sleep.

“And look over here!” Lily motioned him over.

There, lying in the grass, was a baby elephant napping in the grass.

They reached the creek. The sky was blue, the air was crisp, and birds were singing in the trees.

“Kevin, come, look.”

He peered into the water. There were tadpoles in the creek..

Kevin’s spirits lifted and he felt excited again.

“You don’t want to be in my videos with me?”

Carlos and Minji looked at each other.

“I’ll subscribe to it. I just don’t want to be in it,” Minji said gingerly.

“Yeah, me too. I’ll subscribe to it, Kevin.” Carlos kicked the ball to Minji and they continued down the field.

But Jesse’s screen looked different. There were pictures of him and next to his name it said, “552 subscribers.”

The next day in school, Lily and Kevin sat together at lunch. Kevin traded his clover for some of Lily’s collard greens. They did this every day.

“Want to come over today to work on the Rain Forest project?” Kevin asked.

“Sure. What time?”

“4? And afterwards, we can watch Bill Nye the Science Guy.”

“Sure, that sounds great.”
