I’ve graduated from Lisa Congdon’s Book of 20 Ways to Draw Everything (with drawings to emulate) to 642 Things to Draw which offers empty boxes with an object name (Eloise Leigh, Chronicle Books).

Much of the time, however, I need to look up the image on my phone or laptop because I can’t conjure the image well enough to draw on my own.
Baby steps.
By the way, did you know there is an art museum named “Van Gogh’s Ear” in Prescott, AZ? I’ll have to check it out next time I’m there.
Close your eyes, give yourself a minute. Next time that challenge lands, put your phone down, see what you come up with. You might be the next Picasso.

I’ll try, but it won’t be pretty. 🙂

Beauty in the eye of the beholder and all that, right?

I always think about buying that book. Do you like it?

Which one? I learned a lot and gained much confidence as I made my way through the 20 Ways to Draw Everything. The 642 Things to Draw is more challenging, because there is no model. But I enjoy it! They’re both pretty great!
