Contemplation

I had my 5th graders reflect upon their work and productivity now that the first semester is closing.
Here is one response I think we can all relate to on some level (replace fortnite with Facebook, Twitter, Netflix, etc).:
I’ve had a record number of late work assignments turned in this year. For each assignment submitted late, I’m having students complete this form. Something tells me this will not be the only form this student submits this year…
Your need for acceptance can make you invisible in this world.

She told me she wakes up anxious. I recommended writing five things she is grateful for first thing in the morning – every morning – before she does anything. Just two weeks in, she said she feels happier each day.
Gratitude can replace worry.
Taking the time to reflect can greatly enrich your practice. You might realize you can do more of what you’re doing right and learn how to improve weak areas. Undoubtedly, this will expedite progress.
